The Warning

2006

We wrote ‘Over and Over’ in a flat in Camden which was an old church up Camden Road around 2003.

We rented the church because it had this enormous front space and our landlord told us it would be perfect to rehearse in, but when we rehearsed we had this woman that lived above with a new baby who immediately screamed at us for rehearsing in there...

Made In The Dark

2008

"We wanted to record properly as a band for the first time... my bedroom is only six foot wide and it’s got my bed in it, so I would have had to choose between my girlfriend and the band if I wanted to record it all in there!

Our aim was to make the bedroom-recorded stuff, like ‘Shake A Fist’ and ‘Ready For The Floor’, just as exciting and vital as the studio stuff. Alexis is a Willie Nelson fan, and I buy a lot of dance music... we have a rare chemistry, I’m proud of it. We’re looking forward to peoples’ reactions, but we’re half terrified too! But so far I’m pretty damn happy with the album."

One Life Stand

2010

"The idea of devotion or commitment runs through the whole album. I'm talking about turning a one night stand into someone's whole life and I think that's quite a nice thing to say. It’s about commitment and celebrating that rather than the fear of it."

- Alexis

We were ‘nervous about being open or emotionally honest’… whereas the new album is more open lyrically. There’s definitely more of a sense of unity to this record. We wanted it to feel like a complete band record… something played together.
